Memory

A people without memory cannot remain a people.

Memory is not nostalgia. It is the truthful reception of an inheritance. A civilization that forgets its sources becomes easy to manipulate, easy to shame, and unable to defend the goods it still depends on.

Why it matters

The West needs memory because gratitude and repentance both require truth. We remember not to idolize the past, but to receive what is noble, reject what is false, repair what is broken, and hand on what is good.
